 RACE DAY PROCEDURES AND RULES FOR THE 2009 High1 Asian Long Distance TRIATHLON Championships


Equipment

      • Race Bags Check In (Race Day Morning)
        • Running bag: Running Shoes, Air Spray, Suncream, Running Goggle
        • Finish bag: Warm clothes(High1 CC located on 1340m from sea level, Expected Air Temp.: 10 degree Celsuis)
      • After Race
        • Swim bag: Athlete need to put their own swim equipments (Swim cap, goggle, wetsuit, bike pump) into the swim bag after swim in the transition area. LOC will deliver the swim bag to the 2nd transition area located in Taebaek Training Center.
        • Big bag: Athletes need to put their own bike equipments(Helmet, goggle, gloves, bike shoes) into their own bike bag

Transition Area

  • Transition opens at the designed time. Competitors must use only their designated rack. Competitors must mount and dismount at the designated area. Competitiors will not be able to pick up your equipment from transition until the last age group participant is out on the run (approximately 2pm). The Event is not responsible for lost or stolen equipment that competitors did not put into their own race bags.
  • Only race participants, staff, security and volunteers are allowed in the transition area. An Event wristband is required for access.
  • No extra equipment (wheels, 2nd helmet, 2nd wetsuit, etc.) is allowed in Transition. Transition is fenced & secured by LOC.
  • ANSI, CPSC or SNELL approved helmets are required during the cycling portion of the event. You will be prohibited from participating if you don't have an approved helmet. Helmets must be buckled in place during all aspects of the bike including Transition.
  • You must walk your bike in the racks & walk or jog with your bike in the transition lanes to the designated mount & dismount areas at the Bike Out and Bike In transition gates.

Race Numbers & Body Marking

  • Your race number must be visible on your body, swim cap, bike frame, bike helmet & pinned on the front of your run jersey or in front on your race belt.
  • Body marking will be limited to shoulders and the right & left calf.

Timing

  • The race is timed with the ChampionChip Electronic Timing System. Participants are required to wear a ChampionChip, strapped on their ankle, throughout the race. Chips will be collected at the end of the Finish Zone.
  • Relay Team Members must pass the strap/chip at each transition at the rack where the team¡¯s bike is racked. Chips will be collected at the end of the Finish Zone.

The Swim

  • Beach run start will be applied. You are prohibited from striking or swimming over another swimmer.
  • Warm up will not be permitted till 15 minutes before race start.
  • Athletes have to exit the water after finishing the first lap and then reenter for the second lap.
  • If you have entered that water and believe you are in need of assistance from a lifeguard, it is recommended that you roll over on your back and signal to a lifeguard. If a lifeguard believes you are in danger at any point during the swim, the lifeguard has at his or her discretion the right remove you from the swim leg of the race. If you are not able to complete the swim, you are still entitled to participate in the bike and the run, but please turn in your ChampionChip prior to entering transition to start the bike.
  • Expected water temperature is 18 degrees celsius. Wetsuit use is mandatory. If you are new to wetsuits, it is recommended that you purchase the wetsuit from a reputable dealer & insure a proper fit. Heed the manufacturer's warnings. It is also recommended that you train in your wetsuit under supervision before wearing the suit in a competition.

The Bike

  • Bike inspection is mandatoryd. MTB will not be allowed.
  • Drafting is illegal. Marshals on motorcycles will strictly enforce drafting rules. Officials will also be in Transition. Failure to heed the commands of an Official will result in your disqualification & ejection from the event
  • There are caution areas on the bike course (near transition on ramps and during turns) where you are required to slow & ride single file. Race officials will be on hand, and failure to heed their instructions may result in a penalty or your disqualification.
  • If you break down on the bike, you must remove yourself and your bike from the course.

The Run

  • Athletes can run or walk.
  • If you intentionally strike another runner, you will be penalized & may be removed from the event.
  • Your race number must be visible on your body pinned on the front of your run jersey or in front on your race belt.

RACE PACKET PICK-UP

    ALL registrants in the High1 Asian Long Distance Triathlon Championships MUST pick up their registration packets at the race official hotel on Saturday. There will be NO race day packet pick up- NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • Race number & safety pins
  • Swim cap
  • Wristband (required for entrance to transition and Post Race Party)
  • Helmet number (must be on the front of your bike helmet)
  • Bike number (must be on your bike¡¯s frame)
  • ChampionChip & strap
  • Course Maps
  • T-shirts
  • Program book

Race Briefing

    Race Briefing are highly recommended for all participants of the High 1 Asian Long Distance Triathlon Championships. Each year, there may be a change to the rules, and as a participant, it is your responsibility to be in the know.
